Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How do I know if therapy is covered by insurance?

We are Medicare-enrolled and can bill Medicare directly. For commercial insurance, we are out-of-network but provide superbills for self-submission upon request. Flexible payment options are available. Contact us to discuss arrangements that support your access to care.

How do I schedule an evaluation?

Fill out the form or contact us by phone or email. We’ll review your goals, needs, and insurance options, then schedule a personalized initial evaluation to create your individualized plan of care.

What should I expect at my first session?

The initial evaluation includes a review of your strengths, challenges, and environment. We may perform manual muscle testing, objective functional assessments, and observations of daily routines. You will leave with a tangible plan and exercises to start making progress immediately.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Life happens! We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule. Clear communication helps ensure continuity of care and protects your scheduled time.

For Parents: Pediatric Occupational Therapy

What kinds of challenges can OT help my child with?

Pediatric occupational therapy supports children with fine motor skills (handwriting, cutting, drawing), sensory processing, and executive functioning skills like attention, organization, problem solving. We also help children thrive in natural environments using evidence-based strategies tailored to their strengths.

As the owner of this practice, I personally have experience raising a child with early developmental needs who has made significant progress through targeted therapy — I understand firsthand the journey and challenges families face.

How does therapy work for children?

Sessions are engaging, playful, and tailored to each child’s needs. We provide practical strategies and skill-building activities to support independence and academic success. Parents, teachers, and caregivers are actively involved to reinforce skills outside of therapy.

How long will my child need therapy?

Duration depends on goals, progress, and individual needs. Some children benefit from a short series of sessions, while others require ongoing support to maintain and generalize skills.

Is there a long wait to start therapy?

No — we try our best to offer prompt scheduling with no long waiting lists so your child can begin therapy as soon as possible. Early intervention and timely support can make a meaningful difference in outcomes.

For Teens: Skills for School and Life

How can OT help me succeed in school and daily life?

Therapy focuses on executive functioning, organization, time management, self-awareness, and perseverance. We perform an objective assessment of current goals and routines, and may incorporate social prescription elements and mental health-informed interventions to support well-being. This helps teens manage high-pressure academic environments, improve performance, and build confidence.

Will therapy interfere with my schedule?

No — mobile OT comes to your home, school, or community setting. Sessions are flexible and designed to fit your schedule while targeting real-life challenges.

For Adults: Orthopedic and Neurological OT

What conditions do you treat for adults?

We treat orthopedic and neurological conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, including:

● Frozen shoulder/adhesive capsulitis

● Rotator cuff tears and repairs

● De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

● Lateral or Medial Epicondylitis (Tennis or Golfer's Elbow)

● Osteoarthritis

● Fractures, tendon, and nerve injuries

● Stroke and other neurological injuries

We also provide specialized rehabilitation for TBI and stroke survivors, including cognitive rehabilitation with objective assessments and evidence-based interventions.

What happens in an adult OT session?

Sessions are hands-on and highly practical. We may include:

● Manual therapy for pain relief and motor re-education

● Therapeutic exercises or activities

● Task-specific training for stroke or neurological recovery

● Kinesiotaping and modalities for pain or tissue healing

● Custom thermoplastic splints and in-home casting

● Cognitive rehabilitation for neurological populations

● Vision adaptations and retraining exercises for TBI or stroke survivors

● Specific return-to-sport programs (pickleball, yoga, rock climbing)

By the end of your first session, you will have tangible exercises, strategies, or a home program to immediately begin building skills and improving function.

How long does therapy last?

Duration depends on your goals, condition severity, and progress. We regularly review your desired outcomes to ensure therapy is always purposeful and meaningful.

For Older Adults: Independence, Safety, and Aging in Place

How can OT help me stay independent at home?

We help maintain independence and safety, particularly for older adults with chronic conditions, cognitive, or mobility challenges. Therapy includes fall prevention, safe mobility, energy conservation, home modifications, and skill re-building to maintain daily function.

What if I have difficulty traveling?

Mobile OT comes to you! We can provide home-based sessions and environmental assessments to optimize safety and independence.

Home and Work Solutions

Can you help with home or workplace setup?

Yes! We evaluate your home, school, or work environment to make it safer, more comfortable, and functional. This includes:

● Home modifications for safety, accessibility, or independence (including durable medical equipment recommendations)

● Ergonomic workstation setups to reduce pain from conditions like lateral epicondylitis, radial and carpal tunnel syndrome

● Alternatives to reduce cumulative stress, including sit-to-stand workstations, posture adjustments, and eyestrain accommodations

● Recommendations for specific computer workstation setups

Our goal is to provide practical, sustainable solutions that fit your daily life and work routines.
